Job Creation

Tragically, unemployment in San Diego County has risen to a current 10.2% – up from 6.4% last year! The reason that California has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country (currently 12.2%) is because our government, at both the state and federal level, has failed us in ensuring an atmosphere that promotes commerce. Money in the pockets of citizens heightens demand for goods and services, which creates jobs as businesses boom. My two-fold platform for job creation in California is simple – help the people to keep what they earn and encourage businesses to expand and create jobs by rewarding them when they do. Lowering taxes for both citizens and businesses will revitalize our job market and our economy.

TARP Bailouts, Buyouts, and Debt

The American people have been robbed by the TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) fund, being forced to bailout big businesses in the private sector with our tax dollars, supposedly to help maintain the American economy. Now that the damage is done and we know that this initiative left those of us on Main Street padding the pockets of those on Wall Street, we can fight back. Without controversy or speculation, the American people should absolutely get their money back – I will fight to get TARP funds flowing back into the hands of taxpayers in the form of a universal tax cut. Utilizing this strategy will immediately stimulate the economy, and it will empower citizens to make their own choices regarding how they spend their money. This measure will hopefully restore some of the lost confidence in government officials who truly wish to act in the best interest of the people, not the bankers.

Border Control

All Californians realize that border security is an ongoing issue, and your representatives in Congress must fight for the safety of the people and the sovereignty of this nation. Although the Border Patrol reports that the California-Mexico border is “not under effective control”, the Obama administration is cutting hundreds of Border Patrol jobs. Border security results in the confiscation of thousands of pounds of illegal drugs and the arrests of hardened criminals who wish to smuggle people and contrabands into our country. If the federal government does not understand the need to exercise absolute control over its borders, the people most affected by this lack of security must rise up. As your representative I will fight for sufficient, effective border control that is free of politics, social experimentation, and historical reparations. Our sovereign nation deserves proper protection by a strong border patrol empowered to protect the citizens of this country.

Terrorism

Global terrorism is one of the most dynamic issues of our time, and terrorist acts against the United States are a real threat. Terrorists are a clear enemy – they wish to destroy us and our culture. Therefore, we should fight terrorism with great strategy and clear objectives. As your representative, I will increase efforts to cut off all financing to terrorist groups on multiple fronts. While the purchase of foreign oil must be curtailed and the poppy industry in the Middle East should be overturned, the truth is that most financing of terrorist groups in Afghanistan comes from foreign donations, including traitors in the US. This kind of treason must be punished to the full extend of the law, and our espionage organizations must be empowered with the budget, directions, and support to identify and eliminate the enemy. No more public whipping for our intelligence agencies. With proper oversight, they should be encouraged to protect America and learn the secrets of those trying to destroy us.

War

As a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War, I understand the high costs of war, paid by the soldiers and their families as well as the nation they protect. No nation should send her young to fight without a just cause and solemn deliberation. However, once the decision to enter conflict is made, all politics should stop. Instead of catering to special groups and trivializing the realities of war for political posturing, government officials should be focused on winning so we can end conflicts as soon as possible. Our military should get the budget, training, and leadership to win, not to break even. I will place and keep pressure on the Executive Branch to support the troops with a winning strategy. It is the duty of Congress to approve necessary budgets and measures for effectiveness. I will consider the operations of the war one of my top priorities.

The Economy

The truth about the economy is the actions of Congress drive the economy either forward or backward. Coupled with the leadership of a President who seeks prosperity for the people, Congress can do what works and empower the citizens to revitalize any struggling economy through their own efforts. Recession is not new; past Presidents have dealt with recession, and those who knew and implemented what works have guided the country out of recession. Historically, some measures have worked and some simply have not – and those measures have not changed. What worked for Kennedy, Reagan, and Bush will work in any administration. Only the people, with the government off of their backs, can stimulate the economy and create wealth. I will fight for permanent tax cuts, backing the federal government out of the lives of the people, and the encouragement open competition.
